A Message From Our Principal

GAHS Principal - Ed Rife

My name is Edward Rife and I am honored to be the Principal of the Greencastle-Antrim High School.   It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our website and ultimately our school.  As part of the Greencastle-Antrim High School staff for the last seven years, I can assure you that “Children First” is our focus.  The educational programming is customized to the individual career interests of the students.  Our students have opportunities to meet their unique needs through numerous programs such as:  Hagerstown Community College, Early-to-College, Career & Technology Center, School to Work Program, College Academy, Blended Schools and numerous challenging classes at the High School.  The Board of School Directors, the Superintendent, and the entire faculty are all working together to continue to enhance opportunities for our students.

Our high school students are top notch.  They take full advantage of the opportunities offered to them. In June of 2011, two hundred and seventeen students graduated from the high school.  Ninety-five of those students already earned numerous college credits through our Early-to-College and College Academy programs. More than fifty in the class earned high school credit through internet-based instruction from our Blended Schools program.  While these opportunities may be newer to our students, many of the other opportunities have remained constant.  Greencastle-Antrim High School has an excellent band, choir and arts program.  Our sports teams continue to keep the community on the edge of their seats and perform at the highest levels.  These are just a few of the positive attributes of our students, but most impressive is their character.  They are there for one another in times of tragedy and celebrate with one another in times of triumph.  I am proud to say that character counts for our students.

I feel truly blessed to be a part of the Greencastle community.  Greencastle-Antrim High School is a special place.  If I can ever be of any assistance please don’t hesitate to contact me.  Go Blue Devils!

Sincerely,
Edward K. Rife
G-A High School Principal
