Our Mission
…To create and provide opportunities for all students to become critical and effective users of ideas and information. We accomplish this task by providing intellectual and physical access to resources in a variety of formats: traditional, new and emerging. Through formal and informal instruction, designed in cooperation with curricular subject teachers and individual academic need, the GAHS library program purposes to develop critical thinking skills and stimulate interest in reading, research, and information literacy. We understand the importance of the Greencastle-Antrim School District’s pillars of character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. And by modeling these values within all aspects of the library program, we strive to ensure that our students graduate as competent, ethical, independent learners and productive citizens.

Our Goals
American Association of School Librarians Standards for the 21st-Century Learner

Foundational skills, dispositions in action, responsibilities, and self-assessment strategies needed for successful 21st-century learners.

ISTE National Educational Technology Standards for Students

The new standards identify several higher-order thinking skills and digital citizenship as critical for students to learn effectively for a lifetime and live productively in our emerging global society.
