Get involved!

Tayamentasachta is run by the Greencastle-Antrim School District and has an Environmental committee to help with funding, but the center can still use your help. There are many ways to provide assistance at the center. The average community member can come to the center and:
Adopt a Garden
Participate in Earth Day
Assist with activities such as the Apple Festival

How you can help
The advisory committee was formed by the Greencastle-Antrim School District in 1981. It meets bi-monthly on the third Tuesday of the month (February, May, June, August, October, and December, call Tayamentasachta for details) at 7 PM at the center.
The environmental education advisory committee provides a resource for the director of the Environmental Center and school district by assisting them in designing, coordinating, and implementing programs for the school and community. The advisory committee represents the entire Greencastle-Antrim community. The members include parents, local businessmen, representatives of government agencies, school personnel, students, a school board member, interested citizens, and the Environmental center director, Mr. Charles White.
The following are among the committee’s duties:
-Help develop an awareness, appreciation, and understanding of the environment and our cultural heritage to all citizens in order that they are able to become better stewards of the planet.
-Assist in the organization and operation of an environmental education resource center for the school and community.
-Identify existing and/or potentially valuable resources for the environmental center.
-Improve communication between the environmental center and community to promote environmental education.
-Assist in developing and conducting volunteer programs.
-Assist in obtaining funds to help operate Tayamentasachta.
-Develop short and long range plans for school\community use of Tayamentasachta.
-Assist in developing and implementing new educational programs.
